In the winter of 1924, Club members came up with a project to encourage higher education for women that turned into a lasting interest. They decided to give a college scholarship to a Newton girl and within a few weeks raised $200 to support it. The scholarship was continued even through the Club' lean years, and today is a mainstay of its philanthropy and a symbol of its continuing commitment to educating women. One-hundred years after it began, in 2024 the amount is $5000 raised from members' contributions.
